Weakness identification for a progressive UK start up

We conducted a ‘weakness identification’ exercise for a progressive start up, assessing their business against a number of enterprise value levers to help determine their forward-looking priorities.

Challenge

Our client had proven demand in the market for their product and built a polished mobile app which was being regularly used by a core set of customers. But they needed to significantly grow their customer numbers and forecast revenue to achieve their growth objectives.

Solution

We defined a set of enterprise value levers most relevant to their business and assessed them against each. Through ongoing consultations with leadership, we provided a set of scores for their current state and future potential, together with a list of recommendations for how to get from A to B. This list prioritised actions to enhance enterprise value, identified initial focus areas, and highlighted potential weaknesses needing attention. The engagement lasted 2 weeks, representing a rapid turnaround for our client.

Results

  1. A set of immediate remedial actions provided the leadership team the right focus ahead of an interim fundraising round

  2. This highlighted some gaps that would need to be remedied in the medium to long term

  3. The founders engaged us to support their business strategy definition which would go on to form the basis of an Information Memorandum
